The
Karuna River Alliance is a non-profit group that serves
communities with
specific needs through therapeutic yoga and creative practices.
Karuna is an ancient word for compassion.
Rivers nourish us and evoke notions of renewal and change.
The flow of a river, like the flow of yoga, rejuvenates, restores and heals.
They both encourage us to communicate, to share, and to join together.
Embodying a river's flow, the mission of the Karuna River Alliance
is to offer yoga help one another explore, create, release
and become transformed.
Our deepest desire is to bring the practice of yoga to where it can serve.
This includes cancer patients and survivors.
A therapuetic yoga practice can ease the effects of
cancer treatments and related surgeries and
assist in rehabilitation and all around healing.
In most cases, including terminal cancer, a yoga
practice can decrease
suffering and increase quality of life.
Returning injured war Veterans
can find a therapuetic yoga practice to be a positive
addition to standard physical and emotional therapies.
At risk youth and vicitims of domestic violence
can boost self esteem and release stress
through a mindful yoga practice.
We come from a variety of backgrounds and
wish to share our experiences gained from life
and yoga practice to help bring some
peace of mind to all beings everywhere.
Lokah samastah sukinoh bavantu- may all beings everywhere be happy and free!
