Restore and Renew
with Carole Pepe

Restorative Yoga is a practice that uses many props to support the body so that the asanas (postures) may be done in a very passive way. This brings the body and mind into a state of very deep relaxation. Often this practice is used to relax and quiet the mind when going through stressful periods, times of illness or injury, or to create balance in those who have a very vigorous daily practice. Restorative Yoga releases stress in the physical body and nervous system, and helps to bring the organs and systems of the body back to balance. It heals the body,
and makes you feel wonderful!

Carole Pepe spent over 25 years as a Special Educator and outdoor enthusiast. Ten years ago after an injury, Carole began a yoga practice, which felt like a natural fit as she had a desire to explore the physicality of asana (yoga poses) and her connection with nature. In 1999 she delved into a 200-hour yoga teacher training program with Kirin Mishra (Parvati Nanda Nath Saraswati) in the Saraswati River Yoga method, and a 100-hour certification training in therapeutics in the Bharaivi tradition. She then began teaching yoga to children and adults. After a life-altering diagnosis of cancer in 2003, yoga became prominent in her healing process. Amar Jyothi (Bonnie Pariser) at Yoga Loka in Frenchtown, became one of the principle guides in her healing journey. This experience led Carole to study, apply, and teach the techniques of Structural Yoga Therapy and other yogic healing practices to cancer patients. Carole obtained a certification from OM yoga, NYC, to teach yoga to cancer survivors in June 2009. In June 2010 she completed the 500-hour yoga teacher training program at Yoga Loka with an emphasis on therapeutics . She was the assistant instructor for the 200-hour level teacher training. Her intent is to share with others, especially those with cancer or chronic illness, the strengthening and healing benefits of a yoga practice as a way towards generating peace and love.
