YOGA LOKA 300 hr
Teacher Training and Yoga Immersion Program
"I attended Yoga Loka's 300 hr Teacher training program in 2011 after completing a 200 hr program elsewhere in 2007. I wanted to hone my teaching skills by studying
Carolyn Geiger RYT- 500
Structural Yoga Therapy with Amarjyothi, which is the basis of the training. The experience was incredibly valuable and helped me refine my teaching skills on many levels. Amarjyothi's extensive knowledge on the subject matter as well as the practice of yoga itself made it the perfect learning environment. Amarjyothi's commitment to her students as well as the Yoga Loka community is unparalleled. I recommend this training to anyone who wants to increase their knowledge and refine their teaching and practice and become part of a wonderful lineage of teachers."Carolyn Geiger RYT- 500

300 hour: The Curriculum

“I began teacher's training to learn more about myself but became hooked to teaching when I saw my first class in final relaxation and they were all relaxing. I have had the honor of seeing this type of relaxation work on children with and without disabilities as well as adults. Learning to relax and seeing the calm faces on individuals encourages me to continue my journey with yoga. “

Here are some highlights:
As a 300-hour student, you will initiate a project to support your individual interests. You will identify the way you want to bring yoga into the world and we will work together to make that happen. There will be student teaching opportunities, opportunities to assist with off-site workshops and observe private sessions, and more.
The 300-hour program will be segmented into modules, so you can complete the requirements at your own pace by enrolling in these modules as your schedule allows.

Here are some highlights:
- Mentoring- Use what you already know to help the 200 hour trainees. You always understand concepts more when you need to teach them yourself. You might be surprised at what you really know at a bone-deep level. Often this is not revealed to us until we are called on to explain it to others.
- Advanced JFS- We will use the JFS movements to go well beyond what you learned in your 200 hour program. Having run the 3 RYB cohorts has given me greater insight into this magical series and I am excited to share these insights with people who can appreciate it.
- Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy- We will concentrate more time in understanding the AYT concepts and how to apply that to your own practice as well as your potential students or clients.
- Spiritual Studies- This is a required part of the training as understanding yourself more is imperative for gaining a deeper understanding of others and the communication between us all.
- Online Teaching- Aside from the practical nature of this new modality, there are many ways that teaching online sharpens your skills. This can be used to enhance your in-person teaching when the time comes to go back to that. However, most likely online teaching will remain as a platform for people to access yoga classes well after the pandemic.
- Apprenticing- Identify and learn more about what you are most interested in. Want to take yoga to senior centers, schools, veterans’ homes, etc? I will help to guide you towards that aim. Not sure what you want to do? We will work together to see what comes up! Apprenticing will include more one-on-one time with the faculty. That can look like more privates, emails or zoom calls, based on your preference. Apprenticing also includes observing and assisting in classes such as Introduction to Yoga, Back Care, Fascia workshops, Yoga at the Library, other Teacher Trainings, etc. Some of these may continue online which would give you the opportunity to observe and facilitate break-out rooms in the context of the class. If it is in-person you will have similar opportunities. Your continued participation in these specialized classes gives you additional information on how to disseminate information, and you are learning along with the others. All of the specialized trainings held through your training are included in your tuition.
- Guest Teaching- You will have the opportunity to sub classes and teach free Introduction to Yoga classes. You will also be mentored if you are teaching elsewhere (even if it is to a group of friends).
- In-depth study of Structural Yoga Therapy and Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy, their practical application in the asana classroom and in work with private clients.
- Working with students new to yoga, as well as those with injuries and disabilities - in the class and individually
- Applying the yoga sutras to students’ needs - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual
- Understanding and identifying the most efficient practices for your clients or students needs and desires. Learn how to guide your student in the variety of modalities as outlined in the Yoga Sutras and other ancient texts
- Understanding how to educate your clients, students and the public through articles, public speaking and specialized classes.

"When I finished my 200 hour training at Yoga Loka, I couldn't imagine stopping. Those teaching had become such a big part of my life, so going directly into the 300 hour training felt like the right decision. Now, having completed both, I'm so happy I did it that way. AmarJyothi's teachings grew and took on new meaning for me and I feel like I really established my yoga 'home'."
