I have been getting some questions from the last email I sent out, so I thought I would send out this latest answer, hoping it might answer your unasked question.
If you have other questions that are not answered below, please send them to me.

What is the cost of the training with discounts and is the training going to be all online?

The total cost is $3100. If you get your deposit in by August 30 there is a $100 discount. If you pay in full by the first or second day of the training there is an additional $100 discount.  So your total can be either $3100, or $3000 or $2900 depending on how you are going to pay.  If you submit a deposit with your application and the training does not run you will get your deposit back in full.

Since I really have no idea what is going to happen with Covid I can not say for sure how much we will be online.  I wish I knew.  I would love to have everyone  together in person!  But I also want to make sure everyone is safe.  This past training we had a hybrid approach- some people came in to the studio and some stayed home. Sometimes we were outside.  Sessions will continue to be live-streamed  recorded for those who feel better staying at home.

This is what you can expect from your immersion at Yoga Loka:
-Like-minded community
-Philosophical studies-Understanding of anatomy and kinesiology
-Ability to adapt to individual needs
-Therapeutic applications
-How to heal
-Personal growth and development
-A life changing experience

The Yoga Intensive/Teacher Training  at Yoga Loka is directed by a staff with many years of  experience and training, and will present you with exactly what you desire.

Why not train with someone who has been practicing for more than 3 decades?

Fall Immersion program short description

Structural Yoga Therapy
Anatomy, kinesiology, prana, subtle anatomy is our focus. Learning from a Yoga Therapist is different than learning from someone who only teaches yoga classes.  Your understanding of the implications of injuries, ageing and trauma and how these affect a students experience of asana, and your experience of teaching a class will be emphasized.

Asana Immersion
Putting the JFS (Joint Freeing Series) to practical use, understanding modifications and special needs will help you make the experience of asana class accessible to all bodies.  You will be surprised by what you learn about your own body as we explore limitations, modifications and fantastic solutions!

Spiritual Studies
Dive into the most important component of yoga, your spirit. Spiritual studies is a major component of this training. Amarjyothi has spent 20 years engaged in the study of Shri Vidyaa and this informs the teachings at all levels.

Teacher Training Certifying Module
Assisting, cuing, methodology, sequencing is the focus of the later part of the training. Putting together all you have learned gives you the confidence to practice on your own and lead classes.

Trauma Informed Practices
Learning to work compassionately with people with trauma, understanding the difference between inflexibility and a body holding trauma, understanding natural responses to physical triggers is all a part of the study.

Neurology and Interoception
Understanding the basics of neurology as it affects our connection and awareness of our bodies is an important factor in our own practice, and is imperative in understanding how to guide others to know this connection. The best of intentions is not enough. Everyone learns differently and connects to their bodies differently. Recognizing this makes the difference between being a "cookie cutter" or  "recipe book" teacher and being someone that can partner with students in their unfolding.  This makes a teacher, and student's, own unfolding authentic rather than potentially ego-boosting.

Understanding Fascia
This important tissue, now classified as an organ, is such an important component of asana practice, both from the physical level and emotional level. We will stay in touch with this organ to understand it's role in our practice and how to work in a peaceful and inclusive way.

Please visit the blog page and read this post in particular to understand more of the philosophy of our training.

Congratulations class of 2020!

-"As with many yoga and spiritual practices, I’m not entirely sure if I chose to do this program, or it chose
me! Regardless, I’m grateful I dedicated my time to this intense and enriching experience. In our lives
we don’t always have the luxury to learn by choice so it’s truly a gift when we do so. I learned about the
body and how it benefits by moving in asana and the many layers required to put together a beneficial
yoga class. We also extensively investigated the spiritual side of yoga which I’ve found helpful for my
everyday life and general well-being. The curriculum is nicely balanced between asana and sadhana so
that you receive both physical and mental benefits. I bonded with my classmates over the weeks and
will forever treasure my journey with them. It was great to learn from fellow students as well, especially
since they represented a wide age range. Best of all, I walked away with some forever friends.
You may think you don’t have the time to do this but if you make it a priority, you will. It’s a
transforming experience. Bonnie warns you that you will never experience a yoga class the same way
again. She’s right because instead you will be a better student and draw more out of every future yoga
endeavor. I have changed my practice to better fit my needs and I’m excited to take all I have learned
and move on to my next self-improvement adventure."

Tentative Schedule

Considering the constantly shifting landscape of the Corona Virus, we will need to be somewhat flexible with our schedule.  We will not be able to start in person most likely,  but hopefully we will be able to complete our training face to face. I have been running workshops on Zoom since March and based on feedback from students, and my own experience participating in workshops, 3 hours or so at a time is more than enough time spent on Zoom.  After that, you are no longer learning.  So our schedule will reflect how much time we are able to spend face to face.  I have outlined 3 possibilities below.  While much of the work we do together can be done on line, it is much better for some aspects to be done in person.  It is my hope and belief we will be able to have face to face time later in 2021.  We do not have to rush this! Much of how the schedule pans out will depend on who has committed to the training.  I am committed to making sure you have a full experience, and that may mean an extended training.  I can not assure the schedule until we can see what the future brings.  Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Structural Yoga Therapy

Embodied physical and subtle Anatomy-

In this intensive we will learn a lot about our bodies.
We will use the joint freeing series and the Structural Yoga Therapy 24 poses to learn basic muscular anatomy through embodied learning- that is you will feel your muscles in your body, and so you will know where they are.  No need to memorize or study pictures in books.  This method of learning will be a welcome relief from theoretical and book learning.

We will also study kinesiology- what do the muscles do, when are they stretching, when are they contracting, when are they at rest?  Through this understanding you can target your own weaknesses and range of motion, and with this information we can make some changes. You might even be able to heal old injuries! You will be able to continue to address what your body needs are as you continue a much deeper relationship with this very body.

Also covered-

Subtle anatomy:
Prana- its function and its movements and how we can support proper, beneficial and healing movement
Koshas- the model of our multi-dimensional selves.
Pranayama- how we can use breathing for healing.

______________________________
Asana Immersion
Get detailed the about your asanas. We will
study the basic and complex asanas found in yoga classes and home practices.
Hip openers, standing poses, balance poses, seated, back bends, inversions, etc.
You will learn the benefits, contraindications, pranic movements, therapeutic applications, and kinesiology.
You will know enough to practice the poses safely and effectively at home.
You will also understand how to modify the pose for yourself during a class or home practice to help heal an injury, and improve your range of motion, or just to
experience something new.
