Fall Immersion program short description
Structural Yoga Therapy
Anatomy, kinesiology, prana, subtle anatomy is our focus. Learning from a Yoga Therapist is different than learning from someone who only teaches yoga classes. Your understanding of the implications of injuries, ageing and trauma and how these affect a students experience of asana, and your experience of teaching a class will be emphasized.
Asana Immersion
Putting the JFS (Joint Freeing Series) to practical use, understanding modifications and special needs will help you make the experience of asana class accessible to all bodies. You will be surprised by what you learn about your own body as we explore limitations, modifications and fantastic solutions!
Spiritual Studies (optional)
Dive into the most important component of yoga, your spirit. Spiritual studies is a major component of this training. Amarjyothi has spent more than 20 years engaged in the study of Shri Vidyaa and this informs the teachings at all levels. The Yoga Sutras will be studied in a 10-hour online session which can be taken for an additional $200 charge.

Congratulations class of 2020!
-"As with many yoga and spiritual practices, I’m not entirely sure if I chose to do this program, or it chose
me! Regardless, I’m grateful I dedicated my time to this intense and enriching experience. In our lives
we don’t always have the luxury to learn by choice so it’s truly a gift when we do so. I learned about the
body and how it benefits by moving in asana and the many layers required to put together a beneficial
yoga class. We also extensively investigated the spiritual side of yoga which I’ve found helpful for my
everyday life and general well-being. The curriculum is nicely balanced between asana and sadhana so
that you receive both physical and mental benefits. I bonded with my classmates over the weeks and
will forever treasure my journey with them. It was great to learn from fellow students as well, especially
since they represented a wide age range. Best of all, I walked away with some forever friends.
You may think you don’t have the time to do this but if you make it a priority, you will. It’s a
transforming experience. Bonnie warns you that you will never experience a yoga class the same way
again. She’s right because instead you will be a better student and draw more out of every future yoga
endeavor. I have changed my practice to better fit my needs and I’m excited to take all I have learned
and move on to my next self-improvement adventure."

Structural Yoga Therapy
Embodied physical and subtle Anatomy-
In this intensive we will learn a lot about our bodies.
We will use the joint freeing series and the Structural Yoga Therapy 24 poses to learn basic muscular anatomy through embodied learning- that is you will feel your muscles in your body, and so you will know where they are. No need to memorize or study pictures in books. This method of learning will be a welcome relief from theoretical and book learning.
We will also study kinesiology- what do the muscles do, when are they stretching, when are they contracting, when are they at rest? Through this understanding you can target your own weaknesses and range of motion, and with this information we can make some changes. You might even be able to heal old injuries! You will be able to continue to address what your body needs are as you continue a much deeper relationship with this very body.
Also covered-
Subtle anatomy:
Prana- its function and its movements and how we can support proper, beneficial and healing movement
Koshas- the model of our multi-dimensional selves.
Pranayama- how we can use breathing for healing.
______________________________
Asana Immersion
Get detailed the about your asanas. We will study the basic and complex asanas found in yoga classes and home practices.
Hip openers, standing poses, balance poses, seated, back bends, inversions, etc.
You will learn the benefits, contraindications, pranic movements, therapeutic applications, and kinesiology.
You will know enough to practice the poses safely and effectively at home.
You will also understand how to modify the pose for yourself during a class or home practice to help heal an injury, and improve your range of motion, or just to experience something new.

See what previous students have to say about their training at Yoga Loka:
The Yoga Loka 200 Hour Teacher Training program was transformative for me in a journey of body, mind and spirit, and kept me focused on what I needed in each moment during the challenging year of 2020-21. The exceptional teachers quickly adapted to online teaching, creating a space for relaxed, yet focused learning. The reverberations from the year will stay with me always on an energetic level and a physical level. I am stronger and clearer, using what I learned in teacher training in all areas of my life!- Denise E. Class of 2021
Training with Bonnie Pariser at Yoga Loka was more than I could have hoped for. Her studio is a community of kind and compassionate teachers and practitioners. I so much admire the wealth of knowledge Bonnie has to share with her students. While creating a nurturing environment she encourages her students to work hard, learn, explore, ask questions and most of all have fun with it! Anyone who has studied with Bonnie recognizes that she has a special gift, and I'm so thankful for having her as my teacher.-Rhonda C. Class of 2020
Teacher training at Yoga Loka is a wonderful experience filled with a variety of learning opportunities in both the spiritual and physical sides of yoga. I developed life long friends through this process and and awakening to many areas of study I would like to continue to pursue. -Sue M. Class of 2020
After completing both my 200 Hour and 300 Hour programs with Yoga Loka, I am completely confident and satisfied in my ability to teach many types of students and in a variety of settings. Training with Yoga Loka means that you graduate having a thorough understanding of anatomy, kinesiology, and asana. It also means that you have many opportunities to practice assists, cueing, and class preparation, leaving the student completely ready to embark on a new career, or to simply enhance one's own practice. The spiritual studies classes round out the education, ensuring that the student graduates also knowing how to provide meditation and grounding instruction to students at the beginning and ending of a typical class. These spiritual studies also help the teacher read the energy of the students and give a framework to respond to his or her needs. Overall I could not be more satisfied with my years of training at Yoga Loka. Being a student at this studio, as well as a teacher trainee graduate, has changed the trajectory of my life for the better. -Laura K. Class of 2019
